We were fortunate enough to look after a hatchery again for a fortnight this Easter! We had an incubator with chicken eggs this time, having had ducklings last year
We all enjoyed watching them hatch! The pale-yellow ones are male, and the darker ones are female. Once the chicks were dry and fluffy they were placed into the tank which was called a brooding box. When the chicks were two days old we were able to hold them, which we really enjoyed. Staff, residents and visitors alike had fun interacting with the chicks! A very valuable experience we think and well worth the money to see the joy on everyone’s faces.
