Care home Olympics, award ceremony – 6.7.21
This afternoon Vicky organised a Care home Olympics award ceremony, so celebrate all the effort that both staff and residents have put in over the last five weeks. Vicky made some podiums for us to stand behind and called out the three residents with the highest scores. Olive won first place, receiving a “Gold” medal, Olga won 2nd place, winning the “silver” medal, and Edith won 3rd place, winning the “Bronze” medal. We had our photo’s taken with the Olympic torches that we made yesterday, in our arts and crafts session. Vicky also did an award ceremony for the staff. This time using the amount of exercise done, rather than points, to make it fare, as those in senior positions got more points per action. Vicky excluded herself from this. Afterwards Vicky and Charlie gave everyone a smaller medal for taking part, and read out the resident’s score and where they came out of 27 participants. This made Stephen well up with pride, bless him. We finished with some fizz and strawberries to toast the occasion. Vicky is going to put all the photos from the last five weeks of care home Olympics onto a USB stick and make a slide show for us. Unfortunately, we only managed to raise £90 of our £274 target on our Just Giving page, to raise money for Brain tumour research, but we are very grateful to the few that did donate. Well done everyone!
