Quite a few residents were keen to get involved in our baking activity this morning. First, staff picked some apples from the two apple trees in the Hallamshire Care Home garden. Edith, Clarice and Lilian were all keen to help do some peeling and coring, under strict supervision and carefully risk assessed by staff before and during. Some residents chose to watch and help supervise. They were marvellous and thoroughly enjoyed this useful activity. These were stewed, cooled and in the afternoon Edith helped roll out the pastry and make the pies, one gluten free for Lilian and a huge one for teatime.
