This afternoon, Helen went around us in turn, asking who would like to look at our lovely bird books. The books play the sound of common birds and there are lovely illustrations to go with it. The great thing about these is that even those of us who are very hard of hearing could identify some of the most well known bird songs when Helen held them close to our ear. Most of us identified the cuckoo and the owl and some of us knew the crow and the blackbird. The books sparked many spontaneous memories about our childhood, and Olga and Mildred recited nature poems. Everyone seems to get pleasure from these books and listening to the bird songs.
