We had a game of balloon tennis this morning using “ pool noodles” as rackets and Helen made a makeshift net. The ladies challenged the gents and after choosing their team names “ The Unbeatable Ladies” trailed well behind the gents, whose team name was “ The Winners” for a long time. Peggy suddenly turned into a tennis superstar and hit some brilliant shots, much to John’s disgust. He threw a John McEnroe style tantrum, which got him nowhere. It was neck and neck and eventually the ladies won, 21 to 20. The “ Winners” eventually accepted that they had lost! Helen then went around the rest of us and played balloons with us individually or in two’s. It’s something that nearly every one of us enjoys doing and it brings smiles to most faces.
