Health

Hallamshire is owned by Carewise Homes Group and is run by Care Manager, Mr Scott Melville. Mr Melville has many years’ managerial experience in care, holds a Registered Managers Award, NVQ4 in Care and is trained in many areas including Dementia Care, Challenging
Behaviour, First Aid and Dementia Care Mapping.
Our outstanding care team are also dedicated and highly qualified; most have completed NVQ levels 2 or 3. We insist on a high standard of care, so our employees are carefully selected, full induction training is provided and continuing professional development is undertaken by each member of staff. Attentive and compassionate carers are available twenty four hours a day. The high staff- resident
ratio enables us to provide companionship and stimulation,
as well as tending to the residents’ physical needs.
In addition to the Care staff, Hallamshire also employs
an expert cook, domestic staff, catering and kitchen
assistants and a maintenance person. Our Home has recently been awarded the Investors in People standard, demonstrating our commitment to our staff and residents.
The prime objective of our home is to provide a homely environment that promotes and fosters health and wellbeing.
On admission of a resident, an assessment of need is performed by a senior member of the care team, from which a Care Plan is created.
Residents, their relatives and doctors are offered and encouraged to participate in the drafting of their Care Plan. A review is conducted monthly, unless changes in the resident’s condition necessitate more frequent reviews.

When new residents join the home, we recommend that they transfer to our local Doctor's surgery; Porter Brook Surgery on Sunderland Street. This surgery offeres weekly visits as standard but also an "as required" service for urgent GP visits.

In case of illness, relatives are informed and kept updated on the patient’s recovery. If family members wish to stay more local whilst their relative is ill, we can suggest suitable accommodation for them.

Residents using the home for Respite or Convalescent purposes can be assisted by a community rehabilitation team to prepare them for discharge home should they require it.
