Hallamshire Summer Gala - 29th July 2017

It was a bright sunny morning as we set up for this year’s Summer Gala Party at Hallamshire.

We were extremely lucky with the weather as this week has been a bit hit and miss! Once the Marquees were erected and the stall set up we opened the party and welcomed all the guests.

We are pleased to say that it was one of the busiest party days that we have and we were really pleased to see so many old friends come back to help out and enjoy the day. We had a lovely cake stall run by Louise and Hannah which sold many delicious treats that relatives had donated, we had a “win a bottle” stand run by Jan, a very popular tombola which Julie and Heather kindly looked after. We had a facepainting stand organised by Vicky and Graham (Marion’s son in Law) ran a stand for the children with a tin can alley and golf game.

The Lord Mayer’ess came to visit as the “surprise guest” and she really took the time to chat to all of our residents. She also was happy to draw and present the prizes in our huge raffle! We had lots of fantastic prizes, including football tickets and beauty Vouchers. Rita won the top prize but a full list of winners can be found HERE.

“Jacks Rake” a superb folk band played throughout the afternoon for us and it was amazing to see some of the residents up and dancing away to the beautiful music.

Jamie worked hard to produce a fantastic spread for all of us consisting of Chicken, Burgers, a lovely Chilli, some Pork and sausages – this was enjoyed by everyone and was cooked to perfection.

This was an absolutely lovely afternoon, we would like to thanks Tracy and Vicky for organising the event, we would like to thank everyone who came, helped out, donated prizes or cakes. We raised on the day almost £400 which we will put to good use in entertaining the residents over the coming months.
